Managing bookmarks online |
It is very easy to have all your favorite bookmarks automatically synchronized from your office
computer, your home computer or any other computer that you use, especially if you use Internet Explorer. We have
developed a special plug-in to automate the process. To get started, first of all, you will need to create an account
at BookKit.com.
You will find the New Member Registration page by visiting our web site at http://www.bookKit.com
and clicking on [New Member Register Here...] link. Please, fill in the registration
form and submit it.
*Don't forget to check the "Receive Emails About BookKit Updates?" checkbox and you will be kept updated on all
enhancements
to your favorite bookmark management tool, "BookKit".
Shortly after registration you should be receiving an email with your username and password. When registration is over,
you will be
brought to the bookmark management page.
Description of Toolbar Menus
New Bookmark - Create a new bookmark.
New Folder - Create folder for grouping and organizing your bookmarks.
New Separator - Create a bookmark separator.
Move ... - Move bookmark/folders to any other folder or root on your list.
Edit Link - Edit the selected link
Delete Link - Remove a link from your bookmark list.
Recycle Bin - After deleting, bookmarks are moved to the recycle bin and kept there for 30 days. In case if a
bookmark has
been deleted accidentally, one can easily restore it.
Before continuing, it is advised that you should download and install BookKit Bookmark Synchronizer. See Download
section of this guide for more detail. Please remember to shutdown all instances of your Internet Explorer after
installation is over.
You can manage your Bookmark Synchronizer settings by clicking on the BookKit Bookmark Synchronizer icon
 on the Internet Explorer toolbar.
Please provide your bookkit username and password. If you still have not registered yet, you can do it by clicking on
"Register" button. In this case you will be redirected to the registration page.
Check off "Auto synchronization" check box, if you want your plug-in to automatically synchronize your bookmarks.
The synchronization will be performed once per the synchronization period, which you can specify in the text box
underneath.
Check off "Sync after start" if you want your plug-in to automatically synchronize your bookmarks every time you
launch your browser. "Sync before exit" is a similar concept, however the bookmarks will be automatically synchronized
before you close the last instance of Internet Explorer running on your computer.
If you work for a corporation which uses proxy servers for the external internet access and it requires you to
enter proxy username and password, check off the "proxy authentication" check box and enter the username and password.
Fill free to use "Synchronize Now" button, if you wish to synchronize your bookmarks immediately.
When you are done configuring BookKit Bookmark Synchronizer click on "Close" button to store the settings.
Browser Bookmark Synchronizer Plug-In is a free application which you can install on your desktop. It is designed to
help you synchronize
bookmarks (favorites) on your machine with the BookKit server. Some of the special features of the Bookmark Synchronizer
include:
- Seamless synchronization of you desktop bookmarks (favorites) with BookKit server
- Can be used behind a firewall, by configuring proxy settings
- It is not some kind of spyware
- No banners or popup advertisements
- Absolutely Free
Download and install the plug-in on as many computers as you wish.
This way you will make sure that they all share the
same set of bookmarks.
Problem: I cannot connect to synchronize my bookmarks.
1) Make sure you are using a valid login name and password. If you forgot your password, you need to reset your
password by clicking on the [Forgot Your Password...] link. Submit your email address
and we will send your username and
password to the email address you provide, assuming that a user with that address is registered.
2) Ensure that you are connected to the Internet.
